In Rwanda a unique ultrasound training program led by non-profit organization PURE (Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Resource-limited Environments) paired residents with emergency medicine physicians based all over the world who could act as remote mentors.

To facilitate this mentorship program, in 2018 PURE teamed up with health technology company Philips with the idea of using Philips integrated tele-ultrasound solution, Lumify with Reacts — a platform that allows for real-time remote consultation between mentors and mentees.

In this video, final year resident Dr. Vincent Ndebwanimana and Philadelphia-based mentor Dr. Trish Henwood, who co-founded PURE, demonstrate how the platform works.
